It's not about keeping water out, it's letting water out!

David Nicastro, Building Diagnostics, Inc

leaking window which lead to rotten plywood and stucco repair due to moisture intrusion

Houston doesnt have a stucco problem....

We have a moisture management problem!

Houston is in the top 10 Cities with the most precipitation per year. Which means there are a lot of opportunities for a Moisture Intrusion problem to occur. Not only does it rain a lot  but also its typically 75% humidity on average. When it comes to water and humidity, its a simple solution. All you have to do is allow things to drain and dry and your fine. As for our homes, we not only have to try and keep water out via weather resistant barriers, sealants etc. but also have to have a Plan B for when we do have incidental moisture.

Why rainscreen?.. Moisture Damage Remediation is expensive! It can cost anywhere from $45-60/ sqft.  A house with $100,000 repair bill is more common than you'd think. If you're thinking Insurance is going to cover that think again. They typically cover only instantaneous losses (hail storm, tornado etc).  At the end of the day, you have to have a plan b. The likelihood of having moisture related damage is reduced if the water can drain and the system can dry quickly. The faster you drain and dry the better.

Rainscreen drainage mats are an easy to install and cost-efficient way to ensure your projects last for generations.  This drainage cavity will not only allow the water to drain but also ventilate the cavity promoting quicker drying. While Rainscreen Drainage Mats won't keep water out, it along with a solid core of tradesmen will provide you with a far superior system that can stand the test of time.
